Conference: Dedicated Education Units in Europe: Learning in Health Care

In 2015 five European organizations started a journey to break down the traditional clinical education model in order to establish a more powerful learning environment at the workplace. They commenced from the Australian and American model “Dedicated Education Units” and applied this to the European context. European Dedicated Education Units were developed and implemented in Portugal, Poland, Spain, Turkey and Belgium. Friday May 25th, 2018 the five partners will chair their results and experiences at the conference “Dedicated Education Units in Europe: Learning in Health Care”. The clinical mentor works directly with students during the traineeship. Their task is to provide support to gradually achieve the skills that enable the nurses to assist the patient with autonomy. Moreover, faculty of Nursing Schools, jointly with the clinical mentor, coordinate the learning objectives required of the student body and becomes the link between hospitals and universities. It is also expected to attend the coordinators of the healthcare units that should guide their teams so that students get the training improvement.
